HOW TO MAKE SUSHI NIGIRI

Making Sushi Nigiri

Sushi nigiri is a small formed portion of sushi rice with either raw/cooked fish or a vege as the topping. And, usually a drizzle of 'wasabi', is placed atop the rice. Tradionally, all nigiri was made with raw fish as the topping, however, modern day sushi now includes cooked fish/vegetable toppings.

Nigiri is easy to make, just use a nigiri mold to form the rice, or do as sushi chefs do, form the rice in the palm of their hand. Then add the desired condiment, and place your sliced fish or vegetable. Sushi chefs cut the raw fish with an exactness that takes years to perfect. Their are online videos you can watch to get a better understanding of their techniques. Cutting and preparing cooked fish and vegatables is easier for non-sushi chefs.
